I have been editing since the 1980's when the non-linear editing first arrived on the scene. I contacted Hitfilm about my concerns and got a vague, you can try express for free.like I don't have anything else to do.

I would appreciate to read from other Iclone users, espectially those using Hitfilm pro 4. I cannot confirm or deny any improvements in either application. Couple these items with the compositing ability, which would be a help working with Iclone. It is my understanding it is now a more powerful video editor and audio is very good as well.

I am seriously lookng to update with Hitflm 4 pro, moving on from Vegas Pro.

The effects I have with Sony Vegas do not compare to the "after effects" type of Hitfilm. I have a large library of NewBlueFX effects and plugins I use with Vegas Pro, but I think they can be ported to Hitfilm pro 4 as NewBlueFX supports a large number of NLE applications. I am thinking Hitfilm 4 pro might be worth learning, if I can replace Vegas Pro.and enjoy a library of special effects. I have to use a large number of applications and don't look forward to having to learn new ones. Video production is not some new, and exciting thing for me any longer. Yes, I have learned to reduce the length of my clips. I systematically work through the actors to a complete clip. When I do the audio with Vegas and then bring in the actors viseme one at a time the timeline works well enough. I've used Iclone alot and the memory for timeline applying audio and video with around 6 actors was slow and CTD constantly. Also, I had excellent efficiency when I setup and sync audio for import into Iclone timeline. The Vegas renders are very fast compared to practically every render engine I am aware. I realize an Octane render will put out some outstanding work, but I don't have a render farm system to process the video. Just today I got another constant "update your adobe player" message The Vegas render engine is very competent for my video work.which is mostly internet quality 1930x1080 or 1280x720. I did the Adobe Creative suite for a year, and Premier didn't offer any advantages. Memory management of audio and video was basically second to none. Vegas has always been an audio powerhouse from my viewpoint. I gave up on the Hitfilm 2 Ultimate almost immediately, because it just wasn't as competent an editor for video and audio. A bit disappointing, but being familiar with Vegas I wasn't disappointed. The Vegas 13 didn't seem to me to be noticeably improved over my previous version 11. The last Vegas release was around 2 years ago, and I got a Hitfilm 2 Ultimate version in the bundle.

I have used several Magix applications and they have been OK, but the applications didn't have to be as efficient as Sony Vegas. The price for updates is $200 and the price for Hitfilm 4 Pro update is $200 I have used Vegas for about 5 years. It looks like Magix has completed development work on the Sony Vegas Pro version 14.
